Subir Kumar Basu is an Indian Architect, with a post-graduate degree in Urban Design from Jadavpur University, he is the founder of “ Subir Kumar Basu, Consulting Architects, and Engineers”. He is specialized in the sectors of Housing and Township projects, High-rise Luxury Apartments as well as Affordable Housing. With a career spanning over three decades, he has been involved in many distinguished projects. His works include “Greenfield city”, “Devloke Sonar city” and “Uttirna” Open Air Theatre. He is also associated with the tall towers “The 42”, “Urbana” and Tata Housing as a joint architect. He is The Architect member of several statutory committees of the West Bengal Government. He is the West Bengal State nominee to the Council of Architecture, New Delhi. Architect Subir Kumar Basu has had a rich and long-standing practical experience in building design and is regarded as a specialist in Building Control Regulations. He has served as a specialist in several high power building regulatory committees. Mr. Basu was a member of the "High Power Committee" of the West Bengal Government to form the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) Building Rules, 2009. He is a State Level Building Committee member and an architect member of the West Bengal Fire and Emergency Services Technical Expert Committee. However, He has also served as a former member of the KMC Municipal Building Committee. Subir Kumar Basu is a member of the Heritage Conservation Committee of KMC and has had experience as the former Chairman of the West Bengal Chapter of The Indian Institute of Architects. He is the State Nominee of the Government of West Bengal in the Council of Architecture (COA), the apex body of the Architecture profession under the Government of India. He has worked with different professional bodies, such as the Indian Institute of Architects, where he actively worked as a fellow member. The Institute of Urban Design and the Indian Institute of Interior Designers was an active member. He has served as an external examiner and visiting teacher offering design counseling to students of various institutions such as The Institute of Urban Management, Jadavpur University, IIEST (Indian Institute of Engineering, Science and Technology), Piloo Modi College of Architecture (PMCA) – Odisha.
